Life Certificate

A certificate that the applicant is alive, mainly for pension or monthly financial assistance.

What it is

A life certificate says that the person is alive today and lives in the village. The office that pays a pension or monthly assistance may ask for it at set intervals.

What it is used for

  • To keep a pension or monthly assistance going, when the paying office asks for it

Documents usually needed (guidance)

Please confirm the final list of documents at your Gram Panchayat office. This list is general guidance, not an official list of legal conditions.

  • A written application (name, age, address and the office the certificate is for)
  • A copy of the applicant's identity card
  • Pension or scheme number or a copy of the sanction (if any)
  • The applicant appearing in person at the office (as the office directs)

How to apply

  1. Ask the office that needs the certificate whether it has a format or a special condition.
  2. Give a written application to the Gram Panchayat; often the applicant has to appear in person.
  3. After submitting, take an acknowledgement or inward number and keep a copy of the application.
  4. After receiving the certificate, check the name and date.

Where to apply

Gram Panchayat office (Gramsevak / Gram Panchayat Officer)

Fee and time

Any fee is fixed by the Government or by law and is taken against an official receipt. No amount or time limit is stated here. If the service is notified, confirm its time limit on the Aaple Sarkar portal or at the Gram Panchayat office.

Please note

For some schemes the certificate has to come from another officer or be given online; ask the office of that scheme. Confirm the final documents, eligibility, fee (if any) and time at the relevant office or on the official website; they are not fixed here.
